David Mendes

David Mendes’ story is one of many doctoral students. By the end of his doctoral studies, the prospect of an academic career had faded, as had his original goal of becoming a professor. With virtually no professional network, David had to scramble to find a solution quickly. Eventually, he discovered that his life sciences background could be put to good use in the field of medical and scientific communication, a field in which he has been involved for over 10 years.

In 2019, out of a desire to be of service to the PhD and young researcher community, David is launching Papa PhD, a weekly podcast in which he shares the stories of guests with the most diverse career paths and experiences after graduation.

David accompanies scientists from a wide variety of fields in their career transition and speaks at universities and other research institutions to share his insights on career management during and after the PhD.
