What priorities to foster a more sustainable and resilient health system in Quebec? – organized by Astra Zeneca
The Canadian health care system has received international recognition for its universal coverage of health care for its residents. However, the health care system in Canada continues to face several significant and long-standing challenges, many of which were exacerbated throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
Managing the flow of patients from diagnosis to treatment and long-term health maintenance can be a complex journey. As part of its multi-field study, the Partnership for Health System Sustainability & Resilience (PHSSR) research in Canada focused on current trends in primary care and coordination, persistent inequities in the system, and what the pandemic revealed about sustaining services in a crisis.
The PHSSR report provides a comprehensive overview of key issues and strengths in seven key areas: governance, health system financing, healthcare workforce, technology and medicine, service delivery, population health, and environmental sustainability, with the goal of providing evidence-based recommendations for health care decision makers in Canada.
In the context of the new reforms announced in 2023, what should be explored for the Quebec health and social services system in the short and medium term?
Our panelists will discuss more specifically two areas identified by the report, namely governance and health system financing.
