A sustainable event

For this 3rd edition of EFFERVESCENCE, we are pleased to collaborate with the Conseil québécois des événements écoresponsables to ensure the respect of sustainable development and guarantee responsible operations during our event.

By reducing the ecological footprint of our event, we hope to contribute to the reduction of resource overconsumption and waste as well as greenhouse gas emissions, the awareness and involvement of our employees, partners and event participants towards environmental causes, and finally, the stimulation of the circular and local economy as well as innovation.

Our plan of action

Our commitment to sustainability will be demonstrated through several actions aimed at minimizing the environmental footprint of our event:

  • Choosing a venue that stands out for its sustainable development efforts;
  • Counting and weighing of waste throughout the event;
  • Installation of waste garbage cans on site allowing the sorting of waste, including compost;
  • Creation of a vegetarian menu, with a strong emphasis on local purchases;
  • Use of 100% compostable food containers;
  • Donation of surplus food to the Tablée des Chefs.

Participants and sustainability

Responsible transportation

Do you want to get involved in this cause? Carpool, or better yet, use public transportation!

Montreal’s Marché Bonsecours is a 10-minute walk from the Champs-de-Mars metro station, as shown on the map to the right. It is therefore extremely easy to get to EFFERVESCENCE by public transit!

In addition, BIXI social bikes will be available as of April 15, 2022.  This fantastic shortcut allows you to move freely around the city wherever and whenever you want to go wherever inspiration and/or duty takes you. A station next to the Bonsecours Market, at the corner of de la Commune and Berri, will be available from May 10 to 12.

During the event, we will also actively include you in our commitment by providing you with statistics on the means of transportation used during the day, the amount of GHGs emitted, and more!

Water consumption

For the event, we encourage you to bring your own water bottles to use our refill stations. By using personal, reusable water bottles, we will be able to minimize the amount of waste produced at the event.

If you forget your own bottle, don’t worry! We will also be offering reusable water bottles on site.
