Vincent Dumez

Vincent Dumez (M.Sc.) holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and a master’s degree in management science from HEC Montréal. Until 2010, Mr. Dumez was a partner in a management consulting firm and worked for thirteen years as a strategic advisor to large Quebec companies undergoing transformation. Suffering from three chronic diseases for several decades and, as a result, a major user of health services, Mr. Dumez has been actively involved in promoting the concept of the “patient partner”. This commitment was illustrated in his master’s thesis, but also through his interest in patient education, his involvement in various community organizations and his participation as a speaker at several national and international conferences and forums. In October 2010, Mr. Dumez became the first director of the new Bureau d’expertise des patients partenaires of the Faculty of Medicine of the Université de Montréal. Since the summer of 2016, Mr. Dumez is now co-directing the new Centre of Excellence in Patient and Public Partnership at the Université de Montréal. The mission of the centre is to make collaboration with patients and the public a science, a culture and the new standard for improving the health of all and the (health) experience of all. Mr. Dumez is a member of several boards including the Fonds de recherche en santé du Québec (FQR-S). In recent years, he has been a special advisor to the CEO of HSO/Accreditation Canada to support the development and implementation of the patient partnership strategy, as well as a member of the advisory board for the implementation of a national pharmacare program in Canada. More recently, he became a member of the BMJ Patient Committee and the CMAJ Editorial Advisory Board, and participated in the governance of the COVID – Pandemic Quebec Research Network (RQCP). In recent months, he accepted the position of Director – Community Partnerships, within the Vice-Dean of Health Sciences at the Université de Montréal. Reporting to the Vice-Dean, Mr. Dumez is responsible for guiding the development of the Faculty’s community partnerships strategy and its implementation.
