Sonia Bélanger

President and CEO of the Centre intégré universitaire de santé et de services sociaux (CIUSSS) du Centre-Sud-de-l'Île-de-l'Île-de Montréal

Ms. Bélanger has served as President and CEO of the CIUSSS du Centre-Sud-de-l’Île-de-Montréal since 2015. Before taking on this role, she held various managerial and non-managerial positions at a number of Quebec’s major organizations, where she orchestrated many strategic planning exercises and large-scale action plans. An initiator of major changes within both psychosocial service departments and specialized hospitals, this seasoned manager works to bring all staff and medical professionals together around multiple projects to improve the health and well-being of our population.

A visionary with a keen passion for user service, care quality, and performance improvement, she has an in-depth understanding of the Quebec health care system, its issues and challenges, and the structural measures that can build its future.

After getting her bachelor’s in nursing, Ms. Bélanger did her master’s in health administration as well as a microprogram in health services management at Université de Montréal. She is a fellow of the Forces/Extra executive training program of the Canadian Foundation for Healthcare Improvement, sits on the board of directors of Urgences-santé, Montréal InVivo and the Institut national de santé publique du Québec, and is also involved with the steering committee of the Université de Montréal RUIS. Ms. Bélanger is a member in good standing of the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec.
