Dr Julie Hussin is a Principal Investigator at the Montreal Heart Institute (MHI), appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine at UdeM in March 2018. Dr. Hussin has a strong training in statistical and evolutionary genomics and she has significant experience working with multi-omics datasets from large population cohorts.

Her work in computational biology is relevant to medical and population genetics, fields in which she contributed several methodological advances. She is an active member of the Institute for Data Valorization (IVADO) funded by Canada First Excellence Funds.

Her overall goals are to use genomics and metabolomics to improve cardiovascular health by developing and applying cutting-edge computational techniques for precision medicine. Her group (MHI-OMICS) now includes nine graduate students, one postdoctoral researcher, and three research bioinformaticians.
